Vector graphics portrait with typographic design created in Adobe Illustrator.  I used the Pen Tool and Mesh Tool to create a portrait in vectors with a photo realistic quality.  I created a custom brush to capture the texture of the linen clothing.  The statement Malala made against drone warfare stands out prominently.  I wanted to subtly emphasize the statement against drone warfare with the shadow of the drone on her face and the reflection in her eye.    I chose to subdue the text that tells the more widely known backstory about Malala as an activist for girls’ education and being shot by the Taliban.  I wanted the information that is already widely covered in mainstream media to be integrated with the image and appear to be on the cloth draped in the background.  This piece was exhibited as a 24 x 30 inch print in Faculty Art Show at Coastline Art Gallery in December 2013.
